Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Defence (MoD), on July 31, 2026, published the draft Mhow Cantonment Building Bye-laws, 2026 under Section 251 of the Cantonments Act, 2006, proposing to supersede the previous Central India Agency Notification. The draft bye-laws are intended to regulate building and development activities within the limits of Mhow Cantonment and will come into force upon final publication in the Official Gazette.

The draft covers general provisions and definitions relating to building and development, including accessory buildings, access, additions and alterations to buildings, advertising signs, air-conditioning, amenity spaces and apartments. The definition of amenity space includes facilities such as open spaces, parks, recreational grounds, parking, schools, healthcare facilities, police stations, utilities, markets and other public conveniences.

The draft has been published for public consultation, and objections or suggestions may be submitted to the Cantonment Board, Mhow within 30 days from the date the Gazette is made available to the public. The draft is also available at the Cantonment Board office and its website.
